Prashun Dutta is a veteran of the Indian corporate sector, having a cumulative work experience of around four decades. His work has been well received and recognized at various fora through several awards meant for performance excellence. He has also authored a book on Systems Thinking and Organizational Management, the second edition of which has been published last September. He is an Electrical Engineering graduate from Banaras Hindu University followed by Post Graduation in Industrial Engineering from the National Productivity Council and a Fellow (Ph D) of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC).
Besides working for five years at National Productivity Council he has worked for about 18 years at Reliance and 13+ years for the Tata Group of companies. He was the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Reliance Infrastructure and later at Tata Power. In that position he has been instrumental in facilitating the digitalization of operations and maintenance in the energy distribution business in India. His work has been the basis for subsequent IT enablement in this sector. The work Prashun has done at Reliance Infrastructure is now used as a case study for teaching management students at the prestigious Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad. Gartner, the most respected knowledge-based Information Technology publishers has covered a part of his work at Tata Power and is displayed at their web site.
In 2017, post-retirement from Tata Power, Prashun published a book titled “Systems Thinking for Effective Managers – The Road Less Travelled” through Sage Publications. The book relates the two domains of systems thinking and management practice and strongly advocates a holistic and inclusive management approach in today’s interconnected world. The book has received excellent reviews in knowledgeable circles and one such by the Director of IIM Kozhikode is given below.

Prashun continues to work as a freelance trainer and consultant which gives him an opportunity to apply his systems thinking approach anew and pursue his passion for spreading awareness about systems. His commitment to extending awareness about systems is further augmented through articles that he continues to contribute to various magazines and journals.
